Pure culture

The city of Klagenfurt was founded in 1246 and, in almost 800 years, has acquired plenty of history and culture. And we don’t wish to hide it from the visitors to our beautiful city. The history in a nutshell can be marvelled at in the Landhaus, located between Alter Platz square and Heiligengeistplatz square. In the Coat of Arms Hall in the 16th century building, you will find the 665 coats of arms of Carinthia’s country estates, provincial governors, lieutenants and state administrators.

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is home to a wide variety of museums and galleries, both in the heart of the city as well as in surrounding areas. Here there is something for every cultural taste, as not only established, but also young, promising artists present their work here.

People here like nothing more than to gather for concerts of jazz or classic music, to see a stage play, enjoy an opera, or be totally captivated by dance theatre.
