Jutting out into the Wörthersee in Klagenfurt’s eastern bay is a promontory, the Maria Loretto peninsula. Located here is Schloss Maria Loretto, a stately home built in 1652.
As you enjoy a pleasant drink and good company on the castle terrace, you are able to gaze out across the lake and take in a glorious sunset. At the restaurant out on the peninsula diners can savor a selection of outstanding dishes along with the romantic shoreline ambience itself. Below the castle is Maria Loretto chapel, a replica of the “mother” of all Loretto chapels, Maria Loretto in Ancona. Maria-Loretto swimming beach lies right next to Schloss Loretto.
