Support programme in the city of Klagenfurt
Beyond the confines of the stadium, a wide range of art initiatives will take up the theme of “For Forest”: the Carinthian Museum of Modern Art (MMKK) and the City Gallery will be hosting an exhibition that reflects the fascination of subjects such as forests/trees/nature, using international and local artists’ positions as examples. The House of Architecture will take part in the architectural competition „ÜBERdacht 2019“, which is part of the Carinthian Wood Construction Prize. The installations will be set up around the Architekturhaus and are open to the public.
The literary support programme that will be running for the duration of the installation in September/October 2019 was drawn up by the Robert Musil Literature Museum, in cooperation with the Robert Musil Institute for Literary Research / the Carinthian Literary Archive of the Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt (RMI/KLA) and Carinthian writers’ associations and literary initiatives. The City theatre will add a pertinent play to its regular repertoire and is planning a production inside the Wörthersee stadium, while the Wulfenia cinema will be devising a film programme with an emphasis on nature and the environment. In addition, other art projects, some of them location-specific, are planned in public spaces of the city, for instance an exhibition realised in cooperation with the Verein Lendhauer, performan- ces by the world’s smallest theatre (Vada) etc.
