Since 2016, for the fourth time, the festival PELZVERKEHR takes place in Klagenfurt. 27 offers in 11 days are on the program!
The venues are as diverse as the expressions of contemporary dance. Like a network, they cover the city, from the theaterHALLE11 to the Photography Room, the Museum of Modern Art in Carinthia, the Stadtgalerie Klagenfurt, the Kammerlichtspiele and the Jugendstiltheater to Neuer Platz.
The dance-performance spectrum of PELZVERKEHR ranges from the aesthetically familiar to the experimental, whereby social relevance plays a major role. In addition to Austrian performances, productions from Italy and Slovenia are also back at the Alps-Adriatic location. This year's emphasis is on the connection of body, noice and sound. The discovery of the voice of the dancing body - a body that breathes audibly, sighs, laughs, sings and speaks - is one of the characteristic features of contemporary dance. In the opening performance "Moved by Voice" (17.9.) the choreographer Irina Tomažin explores the relationship between voice, body and space. Irene Russolillo's "This Is Your Skin" (21.9.) deals with how presenting finished songs affects interpersonal closeness. The company Makemake productions interacts with the band Clara Luzia in the performance "From the Wild Women", awarded with the STELLA * 18, on the mythical people of the Saliger (24.9.)
According to the Carinthian focus year for children and adolescents, the program for young audiences is much more extensive: The collective kunststoff surfs in "And yet the earth is a slice" for children from the age of 8 in virtual space (19.9). Supported by Lukas Thöni’s live music, Karin Steinbrugger and Cäcilia Färber explore the world of forms with balls, tipping, turning and bobbing in "Around the Corner" for children from the age of 3 (20.9.). Anna Wieser accompanies primary pupils in the choreographic tour "Wenn die Gretel ohne Hänsel" through the exhibition TOUCH WOOD at the Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten (24. + 25.9.). Inspired by the diary of Anne Frank, Anna Possarnig turns in "Annefrank" to young people from 14 years (26. + 27.9).
Brand new is the workshop "Dance in the day" at Neuer Platz. Nine times, on the 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th of September, from 10am to 11am, Thales Weilinger sets young and old in motion with free entry.
A highlight of PELZVERKEHR is "Dance around the clock" on Saturday, the 21st of September. Between 10 and 23 o'clock run six offers over the city distributed. One may be curious about Ulrike Ottinger's film "Freak Orlando" as well as Asher O'Gorman's „chromatographychoreography“ and TanzRaumK's "Kill Your Darlings".
