We went in search of the best places to visit during Advent in Klagenfurt. With kitschy pre-Christmas winter romance, lots of great lights and little insider tips that will turn even the Grinch into a Christmas fan!    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-spaziergang-durch-die-altstadt\">Walk through the old town<\/h2>\n\n<p>Apart from the fact that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitklagenfurt.at\/de\/essen-und-trinken\/maerkte\/christkindlmarkt\/\">Christmas market on Neuer Platz<\/a> and the punch stands on Alter Platz in Klagenfurt are always a highlight worth visiting during Advent, a visit to the city in the run-up to Christmas is worthwhile anyway. The place to be on spring Sundays, in summer with fantastic sunsets anyway, in fall for an evening run and in winter?   <\/p>\n\n<p>From the end of November, the eastern bay on Lake W\u00f6rthersee will be illuminated by a <strong>floating Christmas tree <\/strong>. Of course, there are also plenty of refreshments on board. The viewing platform can be easily reached with the panorama lift or by taking the stairs. The floating <strong>Advent wreath<\/strong>, the symbol of Advent in Velden, not only lights up the bay, but also brings a sparkle to visitors&#8217; eyes.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The wreath with a diameter of 25 meters and 80,000 lights in front of the Schlosshotel is always worth a visit. It has to be said, Velden is a very special place to dream during Advent.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Everywhere you go, you&#8217;ll find <strong>hard-working little angels<\/strong> busily preparing for Christmas, helping the youngest visitors in particular to shorten the long wait for the Christ Child.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a memorable Advent excursion, you shouldn&#8217;t miss the bay cruise on board the Santa Lucia, and the slow train ride through the Christmassy town is also a wonderful experience for young and old!  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Opening hours<\/strong><br\/>22. The path up to the Christmassy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burg-hochosterwitz.com\/\">Hochosterwitz Castle<\/a> in Carinthia leads through the 14 historic archways or comfortably by lift.  <\/p>\n\n<p>If the castle is not already a <strong>popular destination<\/strong> all year round, the sparkle of Christmas just before the end of the year creates a special excitement within the ancient walls.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Small stalls with <strong>handicrafts and regional products<\/strong> invite you to enjoy and look around. There is also a colorful supporting program for young and old visitors to the castle.
