Art ball made entirely of glass this time

Every year - not only does the Christ Child come, but the Klagenfurt Tourist Board also presents a strictly limited edition of its art ball for Christmas. This year, it was designed by Villach glass artist Mario Karner.

The sandblasted Lindwurm and Wörtherseemandl can be found on them. The balls, which are a respectable eight centimetres in diameter, are all mouth-blown unique pieces and are available in red, purple, amber and yellow .

“The symbiosis of glass and fire is inseparable – just like beauty and eternity,” smiles Mario Karner. “This year in particular, Christmas should be a celebration of joy and friendship, because friendship is the best gift people can give each other.”

Especially in the last two years, the KunstKugel has also been a signal of the close connection between tourism and art and culture in difficult times. The net proceeds will be donated to charity this year.
