Krampus parade

If you hear it clattering through the streets of Klagenfurt at the beginning of December, you’re probably on the trail of Krampus. A body covered in fur, a mostly wooden mask with horns and a tongue hanging out, a tail and sometimes claws or hooves.
Old town walk during Advent
Every Friday and Saturday, 10.00 a.m.
The classic city tour is of course also available in winter. For a good hour and a half, guests get an all-round view of the history and the most important places in the wonderful Renaissance city of Klagenfurt. Excitingly narrated, it is the best introduction to Austria’s smallest city.

Silent Advent in the Landhaushof
The arcades of one of the oldest buildings in the city – the Landhaus – form the setting for the “Silent Advent”. No other province in Austria is able to capture the special atmosphere of the Christmas season like Carinthia with its carols sung by excellent choirs.

Silent Advent in St. Peter & Paul Cathedral
There will once again be a particularly extensive program around the cathedral church during the Advent and Christmas season. A very atmospheric experience is the morning Rorate by candlelight followed by breakfast together. This old tradition will be continued in the cathedral on December 6, 13 and 20, 2025 at 6.00 am.
