Josef Mühlmann runs the Gannerhof in Innervillgraten together with his wife Carola—true to the philosophy “Good Food | Drink | Sleep,” nothing more and nothing less. What sounds simple has borne fruit at the Gannerhof: Since taking over in 2017, the Mühlmanns have earned four Gault&Millau toques and a Michelin Green Star for Innervillgraten in East Tyrol. In 2024, Gault&Millau also named Josef Mühlmann “Restaurateur of the Year.” Drawing inspiration from the forest, meadows, and the restaurant’s own culinary garden, he creates dishes that are both extraordinary and stripped down to their essence.

The Alps and the Adriatic on Your Plate: Josef Mühlmann (Gannerhof), Tom Mascher (Hotel Restaurant Pfleger), and Gregor Sajovic
Producing their own food, preparing it with mastery, and preserving it skillfully—that’s what unites all three: Josef Mühlmann of the Gannerhof in East Tyrol holds both the red and green Michelin stars; Tom Mascher of the Hotel Restaurant Pfleger in the Puster Valley represents a young, innovative style of award-winning cuisine; Gregor Sajovic of the Sandwirth is a member of the Slow Food Chef Alliance and brings his Istrian-Carinthian influences to the table.
