Pyramidenkogel – lake Wörthersee from above

Viewed from beneath, the world’s highest wooden viewing tower displays its fascinating and unique elliptical structure, and naturally from above it also offers a breathtaking panorama. From an altitude of 905 metres, visitors here can enjoy a unique panoramic view of Carinthia and its impressive lake landscape.

Adventure slide

A spectacular adventure slide leads from a height of just under 52 metres to the ground floor of the viewing tower. The 120-metre-long slide is the highest covered indoor slide in Europe. If you are looking for a special burst of adrenalin, your best way of heading downhill is to use the “Fly 100”: a flying fox that is 100 metres long. This will take you 70 metres downwards – making it just right for adventure lovers with nerves of steel.

Dogs welcome!

Not only visitors of all ages, but also their four-legged friends are well catered for here. Some people might not know that you can and should take your dog with you up to the top of the viewing tower free of charge, as the three freely accessible viewing platforms are also easy to reach with the panorama lift.

After a trip to the Pyramidenkogel, why not enjoy the surrounding woods a little longer and let your four-legged friend get some exercise too? Directly behind the viewing tower on the Pyramidenkogel, the Pyramidenkogel circular hiking trail leads to Dellach, Maria Wörth, Reifnitz, Keutschach or Schiefling. Also in Keutschach and highly recommended for families is the seven-kilometre moor hike through the Keutschacher Moor.

Enjoyment meets mountain air

Whether you want to enjoy regional dishes, just a good coffee and cake, or a refreshing ice cream – a wonderful way to do so is as a guest of the GenussWirt am Pyramidenkogel.

Franz Mlakar and his team serve Carinthian delicacies, of course, but also Austrian and international dishes, primarily cooked with local ingredients. The menu also features seasonal dishes to suit the time of year, such as game or fresh asparagus from the region.

In fine weather, guests on the terrace enjoy not just the food, but also a wonderful view. And what’s more: the “Skybox” located a good 70 metres up on the viewing tower can also be hired for parties, celebrations and receptions, with catering from the GenussWirt kitchen.

Right next to the viewing tower, and thus also right next to the GenussWirt, is a playground where young visitors can really let off steam.

Super combi: enjoy the lake and the view

With the “Wörthersee boat trip and Pyramidenkogel” combi ticket, you can enjoy two attractions in one: a boat tour on the crystal-clear, turquoise water of Lake Wörthersee and the world’s highest wooden viewing tower! Take the boat from Klagenfurt’s east bay (Metnitzstrand) to Reifnitz, and with the bus transfer from here you will be at the top of the Pyramidenkogel in just 25 minutes.

Our tip: hike through the little town of Reifnitz past St. Anna’s Church, through the Gidlwald woods and up to the viewing platform on the Pyramidenkogel.
